Hakan is as much a good poet
as a good listener
He dedicates most of the nights he spend in Beyoğlu
to listen to people who are dying to be listened
whether they are familiars or strangers
whether he met them for the first time, or he knows
he will not see them again, Hakan listens to them all the same
just like he listened to that Jewish girl living in Jerusalem and
the Moslem boy waiting for her in Istanbul telling
their forbidden love with tears in their eyes...
That’s why I love Hakan
Because he has an ear to lend to this world where nobody cares anybody...
